Our Town Council

Our Town Council was mentioned in a comment and I would like to just give my opinion on our town council. They are OLD! No wonder they don’t mind turning this town  into a retirement village, they are creating their own perfect oasis catering to their own needs before thinking about the people who still need to work for a living. Whatever happened to the sporting complex we were supposed to get? But wait, that would appeal to the young people who live in this town. Maybe there wouldn’t have to be a law about the purchase of spray paint if the kids in this town had something to do that didn’t cost a lot of money, like skiing or snowboarding.

I haven’t looked at the towns demographics for a while, but the last time I checked there was only 2500 people in town between the ages of 15-30 which contribute a very small amount of tax dollars to our local economy, and out of the 17,500 total population, about 11,000 are over 40 who obviously make more money and own more property and therefor pay much more in taxes. The town has to accommodate those who pays its bills before those who do not.

Lots of good points Steph throughout…keep the blog flowin!

But Yeah it does seem like alot of council are possibly from the old redneck days of collingwood, and like a crooked game of monopoly they landed on free parking and are suddenly in charge of wayyy too much money…

To me it looks like every council member wants to lead a charge for the next big break in the ‘wood….but if they keep ignoring the small folk…thats all collingwood will have to show for itself, breaks….

ya you can kinda tell that Collingwood is for the Baby Boom generation, due to the fact we have a five day festival for Elvis freakin Presley. They are definitely moulding this town for their needs, and basically giving the middle finger to the younger generations.
